Mean Green look for better times in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
There isn’t much room for the North Texas Mean Green to drop from 2009.
Were it not for a winless slate by Western Kentucky, the Mean Green likely would have finished last in the Sun Belt Conference. As it was, North Texas finished 2-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play to finish eighth in the nine-team league.
The pursuit of better times begins with a tough contest at ACC-foe Clemson on Sept. 4. After the home opener against Rice, it’s two road games in a row: at Army and at Florida Atlantic for the conference opener on Sept. 25.
Three home games open October, against Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas State and Florida International. Following a trip to Western Kentucky on Oct. 30, the Mean Green face the top three teams in the conference from last season to open November.
It starts with a home game against defending conference champion Troy, then back-to-back road trips to Middle Tennessee State and Louisiana-Monroe. The regular season ends with a home game against Kansas State.
